The Blessing of The King

Blessings are an important part of religious services, especially in marriages and ordinations, which a coronation can be compared to. The blessing summarises all that has gone before, and calls for God’s love, protection, grace and wisdom during The King’s reign. The progress of ecumenical relations (creating unity between different Christian groups) since 1953 means that, for the first time, this blessing is shared by Christian leaders across the country.

Blessings were given by the Bishop of Thyateira and Great Britain of the Greek Orthodox Church, The Moderator of the Free Churches Group, The General Secretary of Churches Together in England, The Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
