The greeting by Samuel Strachan, a chorister of the Chapel Royal, is a new element added for this Coronation Service. The King’s reply echoes Jesus Christ who is said to have come not to wield power by force, but to show the power of love (Matthew 20.28).
This inclusion marks the tone of the service from its beginning. The magnificence and beauty of the processions and costumes is a great celebration of tradition and joy. Beyond the pageantry our King commits himself, through prayers and oaths, to follow the Lord he serves in his role as Monarch.
